Being active is a key ingredient to keeping your body and mind healthy. However, if for one day you feel like doing nothing it’s important to recognise you might need that break and be kind to yourself.
Sometimes you wake up in the morning and find the thought of getting out of your warm, cosy bed is unimaginable. A duvet day is when you succumb to that temptation and take the day for yourself. This is a great way to boost mental health and can actually make you more productive moving forward. A UK study has shown 36% of people of 1000 people felt a duvet day would help with stress and signs of anxiety.
Most of us have found with being in lockdown our routines have completely turned on their heads. With working from home, to working on those endless jobs around the house you might be finding it harder to relax. It could be you are overcompensating and this can lead to when our minds and bodies need the downtime.
Signs you need a duvet day –
- Struggling with work load
- You just aren’t feeling yourself
Is there a way of having a guilt free duvet day?
- Recognise everyone needs a rest say sometimes and it doesn’t mean you are lacking in self-discipline or are lazy. Our minds are most creative when they are allowed to relax
- Assess your priorities. Make sure you manage your workload into manageable chunk. This can help stop overload and your stress levels.
- Remember you are enough! Your body need relaxation and sleep to heal and repair from postural and emotional stress. Your body is doing plenty even when you are resting and you aren’t even aware of it.
Take time to reflect on all you have accomplished and how far you have come on your journey.
