Will I need an xray?

Any decision to request an x-ray (which may be required) will be dealt with in consultation with you. Because there is a minute risk from large amounts of radiation, accrued in x-rays, a chiropractor does not take the procedure lightly.

Your chiropractor will work hard to assess the risks and the benefits of such a procedure and give you expert counsel on the matter.

Some patients who may require x-rays will be suffering from recent injuries, or they’ll be older patients who may have undergone changes in bone density. Or, occasionally, something unusual will present itself in examination, or an x-ray may be decided upon due to a history of significant illness.

Is chiropractic treatment possible after surgery?

A chiropractor will have the ability to treat each patient as an individual, and will therefore make this decision on a case-by-case basis. Usually, post-surgery chiropractic treatments are possible: your chiropractor will carefully avoid areas that may be too sensitive for treatment, and can often work around them.

Chiropractors are also able to advise on post-surgical exercises and rehabilitation, if required.

How long will chiropractic take to work?

Medical practitioner guidelines suggest that spinal manipulation is most likely to help back pain if carried out within 6 weeks of onset. If you’ve been in pain for longer than this, it may likewise take longer to improve following your session. Your chiropractor will inform you of plausible recovery times, and advise you on how to minimise the chances of recurrence.

Early treatment is definitely beneficial, but long-standing or chronic pain also falls well within chiropractors purview of treatable conditions. Patients find CranioSacral Therapy effective for a wide range of problems associated with discomfort, pain and dysfunction. Remarkably, this approach also appears to complement and stimulate the body’s natural healing processes.
